STEAM_engine · Quantum Mantis
Terms of Service
Effective date: August 6, 2026
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of STEAM_engine, including its lesson-generation, planning, strategy, preparation, simulation, export, and related services.
1. Agreement to these Terms
By accessing or using STEAM_engine, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service for or on behalf of a school, organization, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that entity.
A separate written agreement between Quantum Mantis and a school or organization may include additional or different terms. If there is a conflict, the separate written agreement controls for that school or organization.
2. Educational planning service
STEAM_engine is designed to help educators brainstorm, plan, generate, refine, and prepare educational materials. It does not replace educator judgment, curriculum review, school policy, professional advice, or required safety and accessibility procedures.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to enter into these Terms or be using the Service under the authorization of your school or organization. You must provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, and use only accounts you are authorized to access.
Notify Quantum Mantis through the Contact Us feature if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. AI-generated materials
STEAM_engine uses artificial intelligence. Generated lessons, activities, assessments, source material, standards references, calculations, safety guidance, and other output may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, outdated, or unsuitable for a particular classroom.
Before using any output, educators are responsible for reviewing and adapting it for factual accuracy, age appropriateness, instructional quality, accessibility, cultural context, academic integrity, applicable standards, available materials, student needs, and physical or digital safety.
AI output is not professional legal, medical, mental-health, financial, engineering, laboratory-safety, or emergency advice.
5. Classroom and student safety
You are responsible for conducting appropriate risk review before using generated experiments, demonstrations, tools, materials, physical activities, simulations, or external resources. Follow school rules, manufacturer instructions, supervision requirements, and applicable safety guidance.
Do not use generated material when you cannot independently determine that it is appropriate for your students and setting.
6. User content and generated output
You retain your rights in original prompts, lesson materials, and other content you submit. You grant Quantum Mantis a limited right to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service.
Subject to applicable law, third-party rights, and these Terms, you may use and adapt generated output for educational purposes. AI-generated material may not be unique, and similar output may be generated for other users. Quantum Mantis does not guarantee that output is copyrightable, original, or free of third-party claims.
7. Student and personal information
Do not submit information that directly identifies students or other sensitive personal information unless your school has authorized the submission and it is necessary for the educational purpose. Avoid entering passwords, government identification numbers, financial information, detailed medical records, or confidential student records.
Schools and users are responsible for following applicable privacy requirements, school policies, and any separate data or privacy agreement governing their use of the Service.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- harm, threaten, harass, exploit, or deceive another person;
- create or distribute unlawful or seriously harmful content;
- infringe intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights;
- upload malware or interfere with the Service;
- probe, bypass, or defeat security or access controls;
- access another user’s account or data without authorization;
- reverse engineer or misuse the Service except where applicable law permits it; or
- use the Service in a way that violates law, school policy, or another person’s rights.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and original materials, is owned by Quantum Mantis or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant only a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for authorized purposes.
10. Third-party services and resources
STEAM_engine may rely on or link to third-party hosting, authentication, databases, AI providers, standards sources, simulations, websites, and other resources. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy practices. Quantum Mantis is not responsible for third-party products, content, or services outside its reasonable control.
11. Availability and changes
The Service may change, experience interruptions, or be unavailable at times. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed. Quantum Mantis does not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every feature will always remain available.
12. Suspension or termination
Access may be limited or terminated when necessary to protect users, schools, the Service, or others; respond to misuse or security concerns; comply with law; or enforce these Terms or a school agreement. Schools may also control or end accounts they sponsor.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Quantum Mantis disclaims warranties that the Service or generated material will be error-free, uninterrupted, completely secure, accurate, or suitable for every educational purpose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quantum Mantis will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, work, opportunities, or expected benefits arising from use of or inability to use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
15. Changes to these Terms
Quantum Mantis may update these Terms as the Service changes. The updated document will show a new effective date. When required, users or participating schools will receive additional notice. Continued use after an update takes effect means acceptance of the updated Terms, except where law or a separate agreement requires another form of consent.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms may be submitted through the Contact Us feature on the STEAM_engine sign-in page.
